Heather Tew

Community Governor
Appointed: 22 July 2024 - 21 July 2028

I worked with John Lewis for 35 years after briefly teaching Secondary Maths in Chipping Norton. Moving to Norfolk in 1986, I have been involved in Governance since then, initially in my local area and from 2014 as a Governor at Sewell Park Academy, one of our Trust secondary schools. Having completed 10 years there, I transferred to Thorpe St Andrew School and Sixth Form and I am relishing the challenge of getting up to speed with this great school.

With 25 years of experience in law enforcement, I have dedicated my career to safeguarding children and ensuring their wellbeing. As a seasoned investigator specialising in child abuse cases, I have worked tirelessly to protect vulnerable children and bring justice to those in need. My expertise in safeguarding, risk assessment, and multi-agency collaboration has given me a deep understanding of the challenges facing young people today. As a school Governor, I am committed to ensuring that every child has access to a safe, supportive, and high-quality education. I believe in an inclusive and nurturing environment where all students can thrive. My role will be to support and challenge the school leadership, ensuring that safeguarding remains a top priority and that the school continues to provide the best possible opportunities for every child. I look forward to using my skills and experience to positively impact the school community, working collaboratively with staff, parents/carers, and fellow Governors to help shape the future of our children's education.
