In keeping with the school ethos of “Success for All”, we aim for high quality PE lessons with the students’ physical, mental and social well-being at the heart of our curriculum. Students will have the opportunity to access a broad and varied curriculum of sports and physical activities, designed to inspire a life-long involvement in sports and physical activity. They should gain the knowledge, confidence and skills to maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle, while developing and applying knowledge to make them resilient, well rounded individuals.
All students take part in three hours of Physical Education (PE) every fortnight. We offer a range of activities for our Key Stage 4 students within the school.
In addition to this, students also have the option to select a qualification in PE, either GCSE or the Cambride National in Sports Studies. This will entail a futher 6 hours of PE over the 2 week timetable as one of the student preferences.

Studying GCSE Physical Education will open your eyes to the amazing world of sports performance. Not only will students have the chance to perform in three different sport's through the non-examination assessment component, they will also develop wide ranging knowledge into the how and why of physical activity and sport.
Students learn through a range of different contexts and the impact physical education has on both ours and others" everyday lives, Students will learn the reasons why we do things, why some people outperform others (mentally and physically) and delve into the ethical considerations behind the use of performance enhancing drugs and also gain an understanding of the consequences of inactivity and poor diet,

The Cambridge National in Sport Studies takes a more sector-based focus, whilst also encompassing some core sport/Physical Education themes. Students have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge about different types of sport and physical activity, skills development and sports leadership to their own practical performance. They will learn about contemporary issues in sport such as funding, participation, ethics and role models, and sport and the media. Students will develop an appreciation of the importance of sport locally and nationally, different ways of being involved in sport and how this shapes the sports industry.
