Economics
gives students a toolkit with which they build a deeper understanding
of real-world issues. It provides a framework to investigate past
events, evaluate current economic conditions and assess economic
forecasts. This subject looks at economic activity through consumers,
producers and government perspectives. Students need to consider and
reflect upon moral, ethical and sustainable issues that arise as a
result of the impact of economic activity. It is a stimulating and
dynamic subject which will engage and challenge all students.
This GCSE is designed to inspire students, encouraging an interest in real world economics. Students will develop their economic knowledge and apply this to real life situations.
This is a great course to develop independence and encourages students to become reflective thinkers. The option to continue studying to A Level provides an excellent springboard to further academic study at higher education.
This unit looks at an introduction to economics and the role of markets and money. It introduces students to key concepts such as supply, demand, production, competition and the labour market.
This unit covers the economic objectives of the Government and looks at how money is raised and spent. Other topics include: employment, economic growth, fiscal and monetary policy, International trade and the global economy.
